It is unable to study the history of Platon's thought. And his peculiar opinion remains long in history because he is a philosopher who has an eminent contest career about physical education specially.
Platon insisted on his conviction about his philosophy and physical education thought logically that correlation of body and spirit with priority given to body problem as the basis of physical education of according with music for character rearing, the physical education problem to cultivate respectable defense guardian person of ability as an able man for a Utopia, and all sorts of the problem demanding guidance contents, methods and institution of administrative control through enactment of the lays and even philosophical extrusion to look substance of physical education.
1. Platon's view of human was the man who is sound-minded and who is in harmony with wisdom, courage, control and justice. So it is different between Platon's view of human who is all-round character from a physical, mental, social point of human who can join the Utopia that Platon hope and in harmony with character in human's history and today's view of human who is all-round character from a physical, mental, social point of view on the basis of education for the whole man.
2. He's subject of education is to make each and every person, a constituent of the nation can choose their own suitable occupation and lives. This education has a tendency to strict, definite and direct, so it is quite dangerous. The purpose of education can be changed by time and space. If there are many general purpose about various problems and search about education, that would be better. We should duly recognize the fact that today's education is different from then purpose.
3. He emphasized that spirit was at advantage over body in the relation between body and spirit. the relation between body and spirit should be harmonized. Because the relation betweenbody and spirit is inseparably related to each other. So, something have an affect on one, then that can affect on the other. So, something have an affect on one, thenthat can affect on the other. Today Christian philosopher thinks body is under the control of mind and spirit. Like this, the relation between body and spirit is a theme to study more.
4. Platon dealt with body like a phenomenon, such a thing as a character. Consequences of Orphism brought about body contempt thought and arrest the physical education's development, the effect of his idea brought forth an idea of taking a serious view of body.
Finally, Platon's physical education and physical thought with same character of the substance would be a lesson until the presen.
