On the basis of the traditional English versification, most critics have studied the prosody of Ezra Pound's poetry and revealed many significant values such as its geometrical measure of the golden caesura, musical values of underlying regular rhythms, and absolute rhythms. However, in their study they have not used Pound's own reading of his poems, which could have led them to a different conclusion on his prosody. Since Ezra Pound once remarks, in ABC of Reading, "[to] listen to the sound that [a poem] makes" is the best way to understand its rhythm and sound effect, in this paper the ethnopoetic approach will be applied to Pound's poetry reading, which seems to put a strong emphasis on listening to the poet's reading or performance. This approach reveals some discrepancies of line breaks between the written (printed) text and the oral records, and tells the ways to represent the sound effects on the page. In addition, it also shows the fact that through the diverse experiments Pound can unite the auditory (temporal) signs and visual (spatial) signs on the page.
