It's meaningful work to research on the Pleat decoration which show a two-dimensional shape to the three-dimensional one by adopting a formative character and artistry to costume. There is also need to look upon how the techincs for Pleat decoration have been applied to fashion from ancient to modern times and why the one steadily used in the kind of many sides on decorative function, facile function, formative function.
For this purpose, this study covers the theoretical background and work production of pleat decoration. The theory is researched on the origin and class of the pleat.
The research methods of this study focus on the literature reviews referred to books and theses. Visual materials such as pictures are also supplementarily used. For the cases of contemporary fashion, the works applying the pleat decoration and collection magazines presented are also quoted from the web-site materials.
