This study is aimed to apply basic data to developing the model of wooden house by abstracting cognitional elements
For doing it, we made questionnaires to the ordinary people and the architects dwelling in Gwang-Ju, the results are as follows
1) As to the cognition of wooden house, both the architects and the ordinary people were positive, especially, the former was more positive to capacities and the latter was to increasing demand to it.
2) The most important elements in the cognition of wooden house are visual and health factors, the people were more interested in a korean-style house and a log house than in the light structure house. But the light structure house was more positive in the prospects of demand and the cost of construction.
3) According to the results of the factor analysis and the regression analysis through structure, the main factors affecting demand were beauty, managements, health and economy. The factors of each structure affecting the prospects of demand are as follows: As to the light structure house, they were beauty, economy and managements. As to the log house, they were economy, architectural capacity and beauty. As to the korean-style house, they were beauty, managements and economy.
4) To popularize the wooden house, reducing the cost of construction and developing the standard model were very important elements. Lastly, the resonable per-p’yong construction cost was below 3 million won.
