The conventional concept of language either as neutral and unambiguous meaning-carrier or as anthropocentric meaning-giver is based upon the assumption that language stands as a separate, independent, authoritative center of value or meaning, and that it is human beings who are given such a privileged center of value and meaning. Some modern language theories such as (post-)structualism and deconstruction, however, have attested to the opposite characteristics of the traditional concept of language, whereas ecology has challenged the anthropocentric position of human beings in the world. What both modern language theory and ecology respectively have revealed is that meaning of words arises from their relation to the referred world, and that human beings have web-like relation with their natural environment. In a nutshell, language and humans are no longer a "separate, independent, authoritative center of value or meaning."
