細菌性 상치腐敗病斑으로부터 分離한 41個의 菌株는 診斷學的 特性에 따라 Erwinia와 Pseudomonas屬으로 區分하였다. Erwinia屬에 속하는 37個菌株는 細菌學的 特性에 따라 E. carotovora subsp. carotovora로 同定하였으며 Pseudomonas屬 4個의 菌株는 P. viridiflava가 2菌株, P. marginalis pv. marginalis 1菌株 그리고 P. cichorii가 1菌株로 同定되었다. E. carotovora subsp. carotovora는 病徵에 의해 쉽게 區分되었으나 Pseudomonas屬 細菌은 病徵만으로는 種間 區別이 매우 困難하였다. 따라서 P. viridiflava, P. marginalis pv. marginalis, P. cichorii에 의한 상치細菌病을 統合하여 細菌性상치썩음병(bacterial rot of lettuce)으로 할것을 提案한다.
Forty-one isolates of bacteria oftacied from the infected leaves of lettuce were classified into genera Erwinia and Pseudomonas based on diagnostic characteristics. Thirty-seven isolates out of forty one were identified as E. carotovora subsp. carotovora, two as P. viridiflava, one as P. marginalis pv. marginalis and one as P. cichorii on the basis of bacteriological properties. Symptoms caused by E. carotovora subsp. carotovora were easy to be identified but differentiation of Pseudomonas species based on symptoms were difficult. Therefore, we propose to name the disease of lettuce caused by P. viridiflava, P. marginalis pv. marginalis and P. cichorii as “bacterial rot of lettuce”.
