The aim of this paper is to excavate the residents intention on the choice of larger-living sphere and to identify the correlates between the selection of living sphere and the characteristics of household. public facilities and neighborhood environments. The multinominal logit model is employed for this study.
The major findings from this empirical study showed that the public facilities such as school, hospital. post office, library, and park played more significant role in contributing to the selection of larger-living sphere. It is also found that the probabilities to select Middle or Eastern living sphere are even higher than Western living sphere among the selection of larger-living spheres (Middle living sphere. Eastern living sphere. and Western living sphere) in almost all effects of the variables with statistical significance.
These results provide for policy makers concerning the living sphere plan, space plan and city basic plan with more reliable information.
