In this study, with residents’ perception research surveyed using questionnaire in four cities in Kyounggi Province we present basic data for policy-making urban open space policy and data prepared for a green plan which accepts users’ requirements at best.
The summary of the research result is as below.
First oi all. all four city residents answered that green spaces are small both around their houses and in the cities. The idea that green space is small is strongly believed in this order : Ansan, Songnam, Suwon, and Puchon. The order is equalled with the real order of the green space each cities have.
Secondly, Puchon is analysed to need to increase its green space 4.9 times as much as present space, Songnarn and Suwon 3.1 times, Ansan 2.2 times and as whole 3.4 times to meet the minimum level of open space area required in residential area.
Thirdly. residents quite positively show to pay tax in order to make urban green spaces.
Consequently it is recommended that each cities should establish urban green space policies more user oriented based on what residents want according as this study suggests.
