The purpose of study is to establish the method for the promotion of ambulatory tourism in the downtown of NamWon City representing one of the famous cities for culture and tourism.
The study proceeds as follows : 1) it checks the current tourist information elements such as pamphlets, maps, and signs for guidance and direction. 2) it checks the current statue of ambulatory tourism by follow-up survey and interview. 3) it finally suggests the reform plans of tourist information system, based on the result of study.
Some conclusions are summarized in the following. First, two kinds of pamphlets and maps should be made for tourist : one for administration purpose showing the attractive characteristics of tourist location for motivation of tourism and the other for more reliable use of guidance and direction. Second, installation for signs of guidance and direction, which are offered for a tour, should be performed under : consideration of the local coverages of information contents and place offering information. Third, it is suggested that the signs being installed should be in harmony with other street furniture for road safety and streets cape.
