A modern city has been changed by the industrialization and the concentration of people. The facilities in the city are used by many people and they are built big and high for the economical use of a land. Also the architectural shape and facade are chosen with caution to make the most of their characteristics through the comparison. The beautiful exterior and the peculiar facade enhance the value of the building and the city.
Atrium raises the amenity for the building users and returns the nature for the pedestrians. So, it improves the image of the city, and provides the place that people can enjoy the nature. Also it improves the returns for the building owner and the image for an enterprise. The improvement of the environment and the image of the city is another result.
The purpose of this study is to understand the recognition of the normal users and to bring up the method of the improvement of the recognition. And this study will analyze the problems to improve upon the method of using atrium.
We need to place the atrium next to main or sub entrance to raise the recognition of it. It is desirable to design it open to the passenger after due consideration of the opening. Also it must be linked to mass transportation, especially the subway.
