This study attempted to characterize social effects of the environmental dispute caused by the Youngsan River Ⅲ project, which caused significant wetlands loss in southwestern coastal area. In order to understand and measure these effects, disputants' conflict frames were examined. The purpose of this study is to explain the characteristics of the disputants' conflict frames. The vehicles used to collect the necessary data was open-ended questionnaires, Likert-type and other questionnaires. 24 subjects were contacted for open face-to-face interviews and 116 residents were for the Likert-type and other questionnaires.
Analyses of survey results revealed that disputants involved in the conflict had developed different conflict frames and six different types of frames were clearly identified from all the parties involved in the conflict case of Youngsan River Ⅲ project. Thus, the content of the frames was classified based on the role of disputants. It also revealed that disputants (the residents of the Youngsan River Ⅲ project area) had statistically significantly different levels of perception based on their conception of the Youngsan River Ⅲ project and their living sources of fishery type.
