The purpose of this study is to analyze the interregional system in Korea based on transportation and communication. The 127 common zones extracted from 146 telecommunication zones and 132 transportation zones were established in this study to identify the relationship between transportation and communication. The transportation volume were used as the independant variable to establish the equation to obtained the communication volume. The parameters resulted from this equation were adapted as the multipliers of transportation volume to estimate the equvalent communication volume. The communication-transportaion total volume, which is the summation of communication volume and equvalent communication volume of transportation volume, were used in the cluster and interregional system analysis, and the popolation size was considered in one situation and excluded in another situation. In the case where the population size was included, communication volume, transportation volume, and communication-transportaion total volume per person, which have been divided by the total population of the origin and destination point was used. In the case where the population size was excluded, the ratios of communication volume, transportation volume. and communication-transportaion total volume to total volume were used.
In the interregional analysis it was assumed that the region with smaller population tends to connect to the region with larger population when the total ratio of certain region or the region with the highest ratio of communication volume and transportation volume per person is connected. In these analysis the seoul was included in one situation and excluded in other situation.
