The first purpose of this study was to find out the true meaning in the water-space of Eastern architecture, and the second purpose was to investigate the forms and styles of artificial pond by religion in Eastern architecture. So, I have studied the religious meaning resident in the water-space of Eastern architecture through the religious thoughts of East and historical consideration of Eastern architecture. The results of this study were as follows; First, the water-space(pond) of Taoism had the form of 'islands in pond' by the influence of 'the thought about Taoist hermit'. Second, the water-space(pond) of Buddhism had the types of 'lotus pond' and 'reflecting pond' by the influence of 'the thought about the Pure Land'. Third, the water-space(pond) of Confucianism had the type of 'lotus pond' by the influence of 'the doxy of love lotus' and had the form of 'circle island in rectangular pond' by 'the vision of the universe' that sky is circle and earth is rectangle.
