This paper aims to suggest the most efficient ways to teach students to write on the basis of "The basic research into the actual condition of students at Hallym university. The purpose of writing lesson is to express one's opinion logically and to convey it exactly. It is essential to build trust between teachers and students in order to carry out this goal of course. In addition, teachers lead students to make advantage of writing skill when they go out into the world of job. This writing skill includes basic writing course(orthography, spacing words sentence code, exact sentence, paragraph), reading(summary) and presentation(collecting material, classification, discussion and report).
The results of the research into "Recognition of writing ability" are as follows;
students states that their writing level is average, they are well aware of their problems in writing, and the most difficult thing when writing is to complete logical structure. To the question of the form and the content of writing course, students in Humanity and Sociology give the answer that they want various from of writing practice and feedback-oriented class through correction of teachers. Students in Science and Engineering expect writing with team discussion. Students in Humanity and Sociology answer they would like to learn how to drawing up academic writing such as report and thesis while students in Humanity and Sociology want a practical form of writing such as cover letter, resume and letters)
Teachers should grasp what students want and try to accept their demands for the effective writing course.
This study offers five ways to improve student's writing skill as follows;
1. Building flexible relation between teachers and students.
2. Stimulating motivation and teaching plan centering students.
3. Teaching the procedure of writing and evaluating portfolio.
4. Development of integrated program of “Reading-Discussion-Writing”.
5. Running team project class by making use of computer media.
