A writing history of folk come true by legend. One of the best typical characters in this legend is very Guakjaewoo. The character of general Guakjaewoo as a chief of righteous army is symbolized with 'red clothes general'. Generally what a commander wear red clothes is typical taboo. Because red color is not secure color and could be attack target. By the way, the reason why he wear red clothes eager to show superior intrepidity and capacity of fight.
'Red clothes general' is a character and a kind of icon symbolized Guakjaewoo. Therefore if anyone wear red clothes, enemy think that as red clothes general and run away. The righteous army use to strategy that several red clothes general appear to several place. Red clothes general Guakjaewoo is unique in the history of war.
There are women in the background of red clothes general. It is a woman that teach technique of fight and make Guakjaewoo a chief of righteous army. A man Who make red clothes is not Guakjaewoo but his wife. Accordingly who born Guakjaewoo is his mother, who make him a chief of righteous army is a woman and who birth a red clothes general is his wife. Therefore this legend show a piece of feminism that woman not only born baby but also birth social hero.
We can distinguish several type of a chief of righteous army, that is, a Buddhist monk general, a aristocratic class general, a military general, a commoner general, in these legends according to his original class, Guakjaewoo belonged to a aristocratic class general. He fight in war period as the red clothes general but when the war finished, he practiced zen in mountain. Therefore he lived eternal life and overcome death, at last became a godness in heaven.
Guakjaewoo live not only as a chief of righteous army, confucian scholar Guakjaewoo → red clothes general → Mangwoodang → godness of heaven and so on, he lived revolutional life. He always transformed new character in terms of periodic situation and realized his desire through spontaneous life. These conversion of life make a handing down of figure legends abundantly. A his variety transform occur to several figure legends. As like Mangwoodang, a several dimensional figure make several type legend handing down though variety occurrence.
