Underground parking spaces have been constructed due to a lack of parking spaces above ground. There are various environmental problems derived from the fact that they are under ground. The purpose of this study is to provide a lighting design guideline for skylights built in underground parking spaces for the improvement of the visual environment. A set of field survey established a prototype configuration of underground parking structure.
Field survey for the selection of unit space and investigation into the actual condition for the model test was carried out at 5 apartment complexes in pundang, songnam city and 5 in youngtong, suwon city. The day lighting analysis computer program, Lumen-Micro 7.5 performed the parametric evaluation of top lighting system based on open ratio. The unit area for computer simulation is constituted by the pile module(7mx8m). It is used most commonly for the parking area through the lighting design case and the site survey.
The result revealed that toplight of 0.3% open ratio provides the minimum light level and 3% open ratio should be recommended for the driving area in underground parking. Artificial Lighting contributes to a desirable ratio of uniformity with a higher minimum light level in underground.
