This paper proposes the mechanism of knowledge consistency maintenance in knowledge representation system of Sphinx, which is a building tool to construct the knowledge-based system. Knowledge consistency constraints as the specifications of operational semantics can be viewed from two aspects. The one is that the constraints are viewed from the type of knowledge manipulating operations, and are classified into the constraints on knowledge assimilation and knowledge elimination. The other is that the constraints are viewed from the kinds of the minipulated knowledge, which are the factual knowledge and the structural knowledge.
