System engineering is steadily growing and now more important in the increasingly globalizing environment. We have to build ever more intricate products to remain competitive, and thus complexity introduces difficulties which demand a system approach. The interactions between components become more difficult to manage, gradually becoming the dominant problem of development. At the same time, the pressure to cut the development cycle time is increasing. This is now the fact also for automotive industry and the necessity of system engineering approaches are growing and growing with the increasing complexity of automotive systems.
