In this study, the pressure is obtained by setting ignition timing, air access ratio and initial pressure through an experiment of constant volume chamber. And, the flame and burning speed, mean gas speed are calculated by numerical analysis by the obtained pressure to analyze the combustion characteristics. The maximum combustion pressure is higher in case that the ignition timing is 300㎳ when the flow exists than the case of 10000㎳. And the difference between two cases is higher when the initial pressure is higher and air access ratio is lower. Comparing the flow speed in cylinder during combustion period, it is higher in case that the ignition timing is 300ms than the case of 10000㎳. In case of 300ms, there the flow is increased relatively to 10000㎳ which is semi-stable. In addition, it is considered that this proper flow increment improves combustion characteristics, and the gas flow is increased by density alteration. Also, it is conformed that the initial pressure and flow speed are in inverse proportion. The flame speed is in a range of 36 to 93㎝/s according to initial pressure and air access ratio, and the maximum value is set by ignition timing of 300㎳, air access ratio of 1.1, initial pressure of 0.2MPa. Burning speed is in a range of 17 to 32㎝/s, and the maximum value is set by ignition timing of 300㎳, air access ratio of 1.1, initial pressure of 0.2MPa. Also, the initial pressure and burning speed are in inverse proportion, so that it is in agreement with Strehlow who presented that the initial pressure and burning speed are in inverse proportion when the burning speed is under 50㎝/s.
