Since soil nailing system was introduced in 1990, its application is being growed in branches of slope stability and ground excavation. Also theoretical and practical techniques about this system are being improved increasingly in Korea. But in the case of soil nailing system which is applied to ground excavation in the downtown area, 1st shotcrete, boring, nail installation, grouting, 2nd shotcrete and bearing plate installation are supposed to be constructed in turn. But in the case of sandy ground which is difficult to keep shape of bore hole, it is hard to make dense and superior grout after boring in comparison with stiff ground. For example, in general soil nailing system which was applied to ground which had been hard to keep shape of bore hole After boring, grout system was not made densely and it had been reported that skin friction was not developed effectively. Consequently soil nailing system with self drilling which can perform boring and grouting simultaneously is required.
In this study, we introduced Spiral Pipe Nailing System (refer as SPN system) with self drilling method, can apply to ground which is hard to keep shape of bore hole, and performed limit equilibrium analysis while installation angle, inclination of slope, length ratio and bond ratio were altered to evaluate slope stability considered of tensile strength and bending stiffness. Also in the case of design in consideration of tensile strength and bending stiffness, we suggested optimum installation angle.
