We have, for the first time, demonstrated a novel add/drop multiplexer(ADM) using a symmetric standard twin-core fiber combined with a planar lightwave circuit (PLC waveguide). This device shows the characteristics of fine spectral bandwidth and high drop channel extinction ratios. We have achieved the 3㏈-bandwidth of 0.165 nm and an extinction ratio of 20 ㏈ at a drop channel spectrum of 1542.3 nm.
