The Rizhao Coal Terminal is one of 100,000-ton-class lauge-scale modern coal terminal in China ,its annual throughput capacity it 15 million tons. Its construction started at the beginning of 1980' s and its coal storage yard covered an area of 30 hectors. To protect the areas around the coal yard from beind polluted by runoff and washdown water ,a coal water treatment plant was established for the terminal.
This paper describes the engineering design of the treatment plant, in which practical data and a suitable treatment process or flow was worked out on the basis that some tests and analyses were made of the coal water quality or property, treatment process options, runo-frate and other relative factors. It recommends that the treatment process mainly employing the natural settlement method be used in the future similar projects because of its advantages such as cost-saving ,easy operation and maintenance ,and long service life.
