Both historians and political scientists have been using the study of diplomatic history in their majors until now. However, because of an obscurity of the study's sphere between these scholastic field, the study lost characteristic research results and its standatd of mutual benefit. Under these
circumstances, two studies conflict by emphasizing their differences and don't make qualitative development of the study of diplomatic history.
In 1978, some institutes like the Smithsonian Institutes, American
Historical Association, American Political Science Association, and
International Studies Association considered the issue of diplomatic history and tried to solve the issue. But they could not solve the problems. In 1998, BCSIA(the Belfer Centet fat Science and International Affairs) held an academic
conference to resolve some problems of the study of diplomatic history of 1978. The title of the conference was "Diplomatic History and International Relations Theory: Respecting Differences and Crossing Boundaries".
In my rhesis, I shared the context of the conference of 1998 and suggested my idea fot solutions to the problems. In my research, I appreciated some methods of the stUdy of diplomatic history; Parsimony, Moral Presentation, Chronology Utilization. I also suggested the way to relate in both historical study and political study; Covering Law Theory, Policy Maker's Analysis, Multivariate Analysis.
Consequently, I hope this study will be the beginning point of discourse for developing a new stUdy diplomatic history.
