The purpose of this study is to examine the utility and the potentiality of 'continuous planes' in terms of the fact that contemporary architecture connotes urban characteristics. Today's cities which are characterized by multi-layered network organization require public architecture of complex programmes, and by this architecture becomes 'interior-urbanized.' To accommodate flows and programmes of cities as well as to bring about superimposition and conflict among them, it is 'smooth and open organization' that is required. By analyzing works of architects who have been proposed 'interior-city' by constructing continuous plane, it has been concluded that 'continuous planes' could not only unfold continuous differences but also integrate heterogeneous programmes, circulations and time-space.
