In this paper, a simplified system composed only of the vehicle body and the subframe is analyzed by using Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA), and the main parameters effecting on the structure-borne sound transmission are reviewed. Predictions by SEA are made with respect to the variation of main parameters, that is, modal density and total mass, which are very important targets in the design stage. The observations are made with respect to the input point mobility. FEA is also applied for a real subframe structure and there were similarities between the predictions by SEA and FEA. That is, in wide band concept, the point mobility on the subframe has a direct relation with the modal density and its total mass. Small variation of every modal frequency is not important but the removal of problematic modes related to the input point mobility is more important, which means that one have to realize more similar boundary condition to the subframe during the design study with FE tools. Overall 0.5 dB enhancement in the point mobility needs 12% enhancement of every modes, and improving just I dB needs as much as 26% increment which are hard to be accomplished with the given engine room layout and total mass preserved. Even though the modal density in the tree boundary conditions also can be a barometer for some special cases, one should not be overwhelmed by the modal frequencies in free-tree boundary condition but one have to make an effort to reduce the point mobility in the actual vehicle state.
