As the internet and web-based computing gains the popularity as the basic computing environment, the computing platform is rapidly shifting from individual or C/S environment to the enterprise level computing. Presently, most of newly launched corporate information system projects deploy the web-based system architecture.
This paper presents two strategic decision models for the introduction of web-based information system. The stages for introducing web-based system were defined in the early stage of the research. Two of these stages have been selected as the primary
candidate for the construction of strategic decision model.
The first priority job to decide in building a web-based information system is the network design problem. Since the network design is a complicated and very risky project, a strategic decision model should give a consistent and reliable solution. In this regard, we adopted an expert system model as the viable solution approach for the strategic decision of network design.
