Generally, shear wall system appears to resist the lateral loads, because high-rise buildings require satisfaction of building drift limit due to lateral loads. However shear wall system used mostly concrete, in this paper steel plate shear wall use to resist the lateral loads instead of reinforced concrete wall system.
But, there is lack of research and understanding of steel plate shear wall system so that no real building of such system exists in Korea.
This paper demonstrates stability and serviceability of steel plate shear wall by preliminary experimental test.
