This experimental study is on the structural behavior and the strengthening
effects of carbon fiber sheets (CFS) on steel reinforced concrete (SRC) beams.
SRC beams are often used on high-rised building construction to reduce story
height and save construction cost. However, there are no structural design code
in Korea and most engineers design it as steel beams ignoring the composite effect
of reinforced concrete.
Test results on steel beam, reinforced concrete beam and SRC beam reveal that the
strength capacity of SRC beam is more than simple addition of steel and reinforced beams.
