Unsaturated polyester resins based on recycled poly(ethlene terephthalte)(PET) were prepared and properties of the polymer morter as well as the cured resin itself were investigated. It was found that degree of unsaturation of the mechanical properties. And the material can be used very effectively in precast components and the repair or overlay of pavements, bridges, industrial floors, and dams. Thus, the applications of polymer concretes are being increased. In this study, the mechanical properties of polymer concrete systems using unsaturated polyester resins based on recycled polyethylene terephalate(PET) plastic waste were evaluated. Resins using recycled PET offer the possibility of a lower source cost of materials for making useful polymer concrete products. Also the recycling of PET in polymer concrete would help solve some of the solid waste problems posed by plastics and save energy. Excellent mechanical properties were obtained with polymer concrete using resins based on recycled PET. Resins using a maximum amount of recycled PET are desirable because they do not adversely affect the materials while they help decrease the cost PC products, thus making them more competitive.
