An objective of this paper is to study the behaviors of the
structure with LRB Isolator as a passive control system and
with active tendon as an active control system. The basic
concept of base-isolation system is to reduce the member force
by decreasing the earthquake forces transmitted to structure,
and the concept of active control system is to reduce the
relative displacements or relative velocities between defferent
stories by control forces. The mode superposition method is
used to estimate the reponses of the structure with control
systems. And the results on the reduction of the dynamic reponses
of the example buildings are quantified and discussed.
