Since we do not have any reliable earthquake data recorded in our country, it would be justified to
use the weak and moderate earthquake data recorded in other countries to develop the design
spectra. Total 117 weak and moderate ground motion data recorded in the U.S, Japan, China,
Central & South America, and Europe are adopted. And the soil effects are considered by grouping
the data into the two classes of soil conditions.
The developed design spectra are compared with the foreign design spectra and the dynamic
coefficients of our national building code. The spectral ratios of the soft soil condition to the rock &
stiff soil condition are also evaluated to analyze the effects of soil conditions.
