With increased height of structure, the effects of vertical
structural members shortening need special consideration in
the design and construction of high-rise buildings. The
cumulative differential shortening of vertical structural
members distorts the horizontal members supported by them
from its intended position, and causes structural safety
and servicability problem.
The main purpose of this study is to investigate the total
vertical structural members shortening of 66 story composite
structure which is under construction in Bangkok, Thailand.
Also, the effests of construction time and different specific
creep values and the different ultimate shrinkage values to
the total shortening have been investigated using the PCA
(Portland Cement Association) software program.
