This is a study on the optimum design of plane truss based on the
elastic theory.
The optimization techniques utilized in this study is the SLP
(Successive Linear Programming)method.
In formulation the weight function has been used as the objective
function and the stress constraint has been only considered.
The applicability and efficiency of agorithms developed in this
study are tested for two different trusses which have the different
members and initial values.
Test results show that SLP method is more effective than the
ROSENBROCK method and the SLP method converges very rapidly within
about 4 iterations in most cases
