ABSTRACT: Torsional behavior of three dimensional building
structures is investigated in this study. Torsion ratio and
torsion factors have been introduced to assess effects of torsion
on the behavior of building structures. An efficient analysis
model S3D has been developed using static condensation technique
based on the rigid diaphragm effect of floor slabs. The S3D
model can be used in the structural planning stage for
improvement of seismic response of building structures taking
advantage of the efficiency of the S3D model as well as in the
analysis stage.
