The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of openings
on the bending moments in rectangular slab panel with three edges
fixed and one edge free containing opening.
For the study 177kinds of slab models are established by combining
4 variable factors.
-Aspect of panel, size, location, and direction of opening
The results of the analysis are as following:
1. When opening was located corner edge or center of slab, the
increase of bending moment by opening was small.
2. When opening was located long edge of slab, the increase of
bending moment by opening was 43%.
3. When opening was located long edge of slab, the increase of
maximum deflection by opening was 86% and it was not more than
L/360.(limit of Slab deflection)
