The purpose of this research is to verify the approximate analysis
method by which the critical moment for lateral buckling can be
easily calculated for various boundary and loading conditions. In
the formulation the field matrices are obtained from the general
solution of the first order linear differential equations for
the equilibrium equations. The results by transfer matrix procedure
show good agreements with the values known from the existing
analysis methods for the beams with equal and moment distribution,
with the moment gradient less than 0.5, the load being acted on
top flange with single curvature.
