Rrcently, there is urgent need for industrialization of building construction by new technics, which include prefabricated material, modular design and construction by machine. In this background, this study summarized and arranged the theory of modular coordination technique considered as design tools for rationalization of building production system. The effects of modular design to improve productivity were suggested by a quantitive analysis of productivity. After this theory was applied to assembling formwork in model apartment houses. The following parts were surveyed and analysed to make basic data for rationalization of building production system. 1) The existing researches on modular coordination were arranged and summarized. 2) Building regulations were studied. 3) Modular coordination design was applied to the field to improve the productivity of formwork, which was analyzed by man x hour. 4) Accuracy of dimensions in building elements correlated to productivity of formwork was measured to estimate the effect of modular coordination. The results of this study were applied to assembling the formwork in construction of model apartment, and to propagate and adopt the results of this study broadly, Standardization of design and materials must be researched and regulated intergratedly.
