A folded plate structure is a consisting of a series of
rectangular plates, subjected to in-plane force and bending
force simulataneously.
This study contains two parts. The one is theoretical
approach, presents a finite element analysis of folded
plate structures using a Mindlin formulation, and the
other is laboratory tests on models of deck plates by
loading concentrated force at mid point.
To investigate the applicability of the presented method,
the deflections, longitudial stresses, and transverse moments are
compared with those obtained from other researches and the experiment.
And the result is found to be in good agreement in range
of small deflection.
