The modern architecture, generally represented as
Functionalism, had brought about the important problems
of the absence of cultural meanings and of the public
alienation.
Post-Modernism, therefore, starting in the cause of
communication with the public, has tried to give the
cultural meanings upon the buldings by introducing the
traditional forms and by paying more attention to the
surrounding context and the vernacular.
The concept of history, having emerged since the last half
of the serventies, is now expressed in the contemporary
language with the other characteristics of
Post-Modernism involved.
This phenomenum in the contemporary sitution of
architecture is termed Post-Modern Classicism.
The architecture of Post-Modern Classicism takes, without
copying, different themes from the past, but in a eclectic
manner, seizes certain moments of history and juxtaposes
them, thereby prefiguring a new epoch.
