이제 새롭게 한반도에서 개최되는 엑스포'93은 매우 귀중한 의미를 지니게 될 것이다. 지난 88년 서울올림픽에서의 동과 서의 만남이 오늘날 국제정세의 변화를 가져오는 중요한 계기가 되었다고 많은 사람들이 평가하듯이, 93년 대전 엑스포에서 이루어질 선진국과 개도국과의 만남, 그리고 새로 변화된 동구권의 참가 등은 인류가 공존, 공영하기 위해 필요한 것이 무엇인가를 함께 탐구해보는 뜻깊은 계기가 될 것이다.
